He let the cat out the bag during his visit earlier this year when he said the NHS is “on the table” in a proposed US-UK trade deal\, with our health service potentially facing disastrous price hikes for basic life-saving medicines. His Health Secretary\, Alex Azar\, calls British patients “freeloaders” and claims that charging more to UK users of basic medicines will allow for lower prices for US patients. \nA bloc of NHS workers and health campaigners will be joining the anti-Trump demonstration organised by a coalition of other groups\, and marching at the head of the march to highlight the threat posed to our NHS by the Trump Administration. \n—————————- \n4pm – Assemble on south of Trafalgar Square for speeches & music. \n5pm – March leaves Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace via The Mall. \n5.45pm – Arrives at Canada Gate opposite Buckingham Palace. \n6pm – NATO reception begins. \n7pm – R3 Soundsystem: Dance Music Against Trump at Trafalgar Square.

As long as it is open to competition and privatisation\, it is at risk of being included in a trade deal with the US\, whatever Boris Johnson says to the contrary. We know that British government officials are already meeting with US drug giants to discuss a future deal that US figures say would certainly involve massive price hikes on basic medicines provided to British patients. \nIn other words: Our NHS is on the table. It is for sale. \nOn Monday 25th November a coalition of NHS campaigners led by Keep Our NHS Public and We Own It are staging a demonstration in Parliament Square on from 12 midday to 1pm. SUMMARY:Vigil: counting the cost of the Hostile Environment in the NHS
DESCRIPTION:October 23rd will be the second anniversary of the expansion of up-front charging and ID checks across the NHS. This is an aspect of the so-called “Hostile Environment”\, a policy framework that aims to inflict fear and insecurity on migrants in Britain and make swathes of the workforce\, like health workers and education staff\, complicit in racist border enforcement. \nOn 23 October we will commemorate those who have died and suffered\, and those who are currently suffering\, as a result of these policies. Join us to demand an end to all forms of immigration control in our health service and universal healthcare for all. \nOn the morning\, there will be a direct action a Central London location (more details to follow soon). \nFrom 16:30 – 21:00\, there will be vigils outside at least two hospitals in London\, Lewisham Hospital and one in Central London (site to be confirmed). \nOther events are happening across the country\, such as in Bristol\, in Manchester and in Birmingham. Groups involved include Docs Not Cops\, MedAct and many others as well as local Keep Our NHS Public groups.
