SUMMARY:NHS bloc at Notting Hill Carnival
DESCRIPTION:Join us to march\, walk or dance for the NHS at Notting Hill Carnival! \nThe Nostalgia Steel Band have kindly agreed to host Keep Our NHS Public banners on their float\, and have invited health campaigners to follow the band along. The event is on Bank Holiday Monday. We have a supply of scrubs and campaign T-shirts to wear if you fancy. Swee\, one of the organisers\, says: “Bring whatever one needs to make your carnival fun – libation\, sunblock\, etc. – and just dance or walk as much of the route as you can do.“ Drop us a line to the email address scxandh@gmail.com ahead of time if possible to let us know if you’re coming along.\n \nThe exact starting time will be confirmed nearer the date but we will probably get together reasonably early in the morning (9-10 or so). We will leave from Maxilla Social Club (see the map below).

SUMMARY:Court of Appeal: defend NHS services in Dorset!
DESCRIPTION:Campaigners from Defend Dorset NHS will be outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand tomorrow morning\, showing the government and the judiciary that we won’t stand for the proposed cuts and closures to services in Dorset. Come down and show support! \nNot only are local health authorities looking to divest Poole Hospital of vital A&E and Maternity services\, but cuts or closures are threatened to 6 out of 13 of Dorset’s other community hospitals and health sites. This can only mean more deaths and needless health complications for patients in rural areas\, who will be forced to travel long distances to centralised care locations. \nYou can find the Facebook event here.

SUMMARY:Public meeting: How people power can save our NHS services
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to years of tireless campaigners by local activists\, the government has finally abandoned its attempt to cut more A&Es and hundreds of beds in North West London. But now we demand vital services are brought back. Meanwhile\, privatisation remains a huge threat to the NHS\, and hospitals and GPs are overloaded. Instead of sorting out these problems\, the Government is busy blaming migrants while they plan more reorganisations and cuts. \nJoin Ealing Save Our NHS for a public meeting on the current state of our health service\, and how we can unite to save it. We won a battle – we’re still fighting a war! \nSpeakers \nJOHN LISTER – leading NHS campaigner and health expert.\nDR JENNY VAUGHAN\, North-West London Consultant on the front lines\nDR CORAL JONES\, a GP and activist on what’s happening to our doctors\nSTEVE POUND MP\, a lifelong NHS supporter\nChair: EVE TURNER\, a leading light of Ealing Save Our NHS

SUMMARY:Solidarity protest with Food Service Assistants at St Thomas' Hospital
DESCRIPTION:Food Service Assistants play a crucial role in NHS patient care\, keeping patients fed and looked-after. Assistants at St Thomas’ Hospital are campaigning againstlow pay\, bullying and zero-hour contracts – and against the forced out-sourcing of services to private providers that enables NHS bosses to keep this exploitation hidden. \nHealth campaigners have every reason to attend and show solidarity with St Thomas’ workers who are taking a stand for their jobs and conditions and against the increasing privatisation and fragmentation of our NHS. Join the protest at the Westminster Bridge entrance of the Hospital at 13:30 on Thursday 13 June.

SUMMARY:Still our NHS?
DESCRIPTION:Little by little\, successive governments have chipped away at our NHS\, selling services off to private providers piece by piece. \nCommissioners in Gloucestershire are assembling a single large contract entailing the right to provide a mix of key services over a period of years. County services are being packaged in a way that leaves them open to being sold off to large US healthcare conglommerates\, which will cut back NHS services to drive up their own profit margins – just as they do in the US itself. \nOn 8 June\, join us in Gloucester Guildhall to hear 3 NHS doctors speak on the threat to our NHS today\, and the attempt to roll out US-style private healthcare in Britain by stealth.

SUMMARY:Protest: protect our NHS in Bristol!
DESCRIPTION:Adult community services in Bristol\, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) are up for grabs! \nA ten-year  contract amounting to over £1 billion is about to awarded to provide these essential  health services\, including those which focus on diabetes\, learning disabilities and Parkinson’s disease among others. We do not know who is bidding for this: it could be NHS services\, community ventures or private companies like Virgin Care seeking to profit from patients’ ill health and support needs. \nCome along on Friday 31 May and join us in protesting the secrecy of the tendering process and the risk that these vital duties of care will be outsourced to profit-making\, poor-performing firms in the private sector! \nPlease come along\, with your own banner if you can pointing out the secrecy involved\, making it clear to local residents that these decisions are taking place\, asking the Clinical Commissiniong Group who the bidders are\, and pointing to the danger of a privatisation of the service. We will have leaflets to hand out and our general PONHS banners and information.
