Venue: Thropton War Memorial Hall, Main Street, Thropton, Northumberland, NE65 7LT.
Join us for a FREE screening of the gripping new film Under the Knife, in the run-up to 12 December’s “once in a generation” General Election.
Following a hugely successful national premiere in October, health campaigners at Keep Our NHS Public are bringing “Under the Knife” to every corner of the country. This is a non-party-political film which which investigates and explains the way the organisation of the NHS has changed over the last 30 years, and its possible future direction. Keep Our NHS Public is a non-party-political organisation dedicated to keeping our NHS as a universal public service and free from profiteering.
A Pam K Productions film, narrated by award winning actor Alison Steadman and endorsed by filmmaker Ken Loach, this is a 90-minute investigation that tells the story of how Britain’s publicly
funded national healthcare system has been systematically dismantled and undermined. From its stormy birth in 1947 immediately after the war, through seven decades of turmoil and political
warfare and attack it has survived fairly robustly – until now! This is a public information film which will help you to decide which way to cast your vote!
Most importantly the film has been informed by ordinary people working in the NHS who have realised the urgent need for change. More than 60 people have been interviewed including nurses, front-line doctors, and public figures such as Dr Phil Hammond, Dr Laura Gavaghan, Lord David Owen, Michael Mansfield, QC, Tony Blair, George Monbiot, Gina Miller and John McDonnell.
