Health and Care Bill Webinar 1: Lessons from the pandemic
22nd September 2021 - 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Lessons from the Pandemic: Why Government’s COVID approach is a threat to our NHS
Join us on Wednesday 22 September for the first in a series of webinars hosted by Keep Our NHS Public on different aspects of the dangerous Health and Care Bill.
When Matt Hancock was still Health Secretary, he wrote the introduction to the White Paper which led to the Health and Care Bill. He stated:
Our legislative proposals capture the learning from the pandemic and are driven by the context of a post-Covid world, which is now in reach. And they make permanent the innovations that Covid-19 has accelerated and
encouraged the system to improvise new and better ways of working.
The Government boldly claim their handling of Covid-19 has been a success.
But what lessons did they learn on how to reform the NHS? They’ve learnt to involve the private sector in new organisations, hand out thousands of contracts, many of them without procurement, including their political cronies, erode the distinction between public and private provision and more.
This online event will explore how these and other “lessons from the pandemic” are built into the Health and Care Bill.
