Greater Manchester | NHS Birthday
Celebrate the NHS 78th Birthday – stall at Greater Manchester Friends of Palestine demo on Saturday 4th July. Assemble at Albert Square, Manchester.
Stall from 11.15am, with leaflets about the campaign to get Palantir out of the NHS, against privatisation and use of the private sector to provide NHS services, and on the important role which migrants play in keeping the NHS going, and many more. We will then leaflet the march as it goes from Albert Square (at about 1pm) to Piccadilly Gardens via Cross Street and Market Street. There will be speeches on Market Street and in Piccadilly Gardens.
There will also be information about the BMA legal action about the government consultation over proposals to reform the General Medical Council. Currently the GMC is allowed to appeal decisions made by its own Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service even when it has been decided not to pursue disciplinary actions against doctors. This ‘double jeopardy’ has been used against some doctors who have shown support for Palestine and then faced charges of antisemitism.
