Further information:
These reports could lead to a fundamental reset for the better in maternity services, or they could be another in a lengthy list of reports that had little or no effect.
Everyone with an opinion on this or who just wants to hear more, is welcome. You are welcome even if you have not had time to study the reports.
IMPORTANT: Please take care when reading the reports especially if you yourselves or close family members have direct experience of loss or injury from poor maternity care. Both reports are deeply upsetting and necessarily long and complex. Our campaign had copies of Ockendon printed because of how complex it is to study on the phone or tablet.
We need to hear each other’s responses, how it reflects our own, our families’ and our colleagues’ experiences. We need to hear what campaigns have done or what they might do on this issue and how we can bring maximum pressure to bear to create lasting positive change.
Women have won big struggles for maternity rights in the past and seen positive changes. We can do so again if we can mobilise our forces.
This meeting will not be the only response, nor will it be a final one. It is a chance for us all to hear different experiences and different responses to the reports so our responses can have more power.
