CRISIS IN THE NHS – WE DEMAND ACTION

The winter NHS winter crisis is critical.
KONP supporters have been out on the streets asking shoppers and passers-by what they feel about the NHS. The answer is that they are really worried about the NHS and what the Labour government is doing.
Keep Our NHS Public groups held events throughout February, ending with a rally in front of Parliament on 26 February 2025.
RALLY AT PARLIAMENT 26 FEBRUARY 2025
Despite heavy rain on 26th February 2025, we had a strong turn out from several London KONP groups and members from Kent and Leeds, a delegation of UNITE workers from the Infectious diseases cleaning team at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals forced to strike over working conditions, Johnbosco from We Own It, Stephen Childs UNISON shop steward from the ESNEFT strike, and MPs from across the house.
Speaking from Parliament were: Prem Sikka, Labour Lord, Labour MPs Nadia Whittome, Richard Burgon, Imran Hussain, Steve Witherden Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr, Green Party Co-Leader Adrian Ramsay, Iqbal Mohamed, Independent Alliance, and John McDonnell Independent MP.
All were united in telling Keir Starmer to invest in the NHS, not the private sector.

Keep Our NHS Public has just launched our new petition, ‘Tell Keir Starmer: Invest in our NHS, not the private sector’ to coincide with our London rally Patients Not Profit.
KONP NORTH EAST
KONP North East were joined by Unite Community and National Pensioners Convention.
Their message: people are dying in hospital corridors. This is NOT the new normal and it is in NO WAY acceptable. Tragically, the Governments plan is to increase the use of the private sector rather than investing in expanding NHS capacity.

LEEDS KONP
Thanks to all who helped with the End the Crisis in the NHS protest. Labour must build our promised hospitals. We must end care in corridors, car parks and cupboard areas.
Support the staff who work in such appalling conditions.

‘A demonstration was held against delays to the planned redevelopment of Leeds General Infirmary.’
SAVE OUR NHS KENT
Save Our NHS in Kent have been holiding rallies outside their local hospital calling for an end to corridor care. Their slogan is ‘Corridor Care Kills. Where’s the humanity? Where’s the dignity’.
Their next rally is 21 February at 11am – follow the link

LEWISHAM SAVE OUR NHS/SAVE LEWISHAM HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN
We were out on 1 February as part of the Keep Our NHS Public month of action – leafleting and talking to to shoppers in Lewisham about the NHS crisis – calling for the Labour Government to give more money to the NHS, to address the crisis in urgent care, social care, mental health, primary care and NOT to pay our money into the private sector to enhance their profits. There was quite a lot of anger about the Labour Government.

EALING SAVE OUR NHS
Ealing Save Our NHS were out on the streets of Ealing Broadway on 8th February, handing out KONP leaflets and asking people to complete postcards to their MPs. The message to the public was ‘ Invest in the NHS and not the private sector.’
Many people were clearly disappointed with Labour and expected better.

BRISTOL PROTECT OUR NHS

Our day of action outside the Bristol Royal Infirmary on Valentines Day where we gave out leaflets which read ” Invest in the NHS and not the Private Sector” and gave chocolate hearts to NHS staff..
