Southampton | “Celebrating our NHS” film screening and discussion
9th July 2022 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Join Southampton KONP at God’s Tower House for a screening of two short films produced by students on Solent University’s Television Production course, showcasing the human stories behind our NHS in Southampton. The films are:
Windrush – Beverley Dowdell, former nurse
A Consultant’s Tale – Prof Bhaskar Somani
These films will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Maggie Harding, a member of the SKONP committee involved with the making of the films. Maggie will be joined by Dr Cheryl Butler, historian and researcher into the Early Black History of Southampton, Beverley Dowdell, former nurse for the NHS and chair of the Black Heritage Association and Vilma Scott, retired nurse and former Director of of West Itchen Community Trust, Director of TWICS (Training for Work in Communities) and Director of Black History Month South.
This event is part of the SKONP ‘Celebrating our NHS: Southampton Stories on Film‘ exhibition on display at GHT from 1st – 3rd July.
