More info

The Pandemic has exposed this government’s failures:

  • To develop an adequate Test & Trace system
  • To safely quarantine international travellers
  • Easing lockdowns too soon, contrary to expert medical advice
  • Pressurising schools to re-open before it’s safe
  • Promoting competition, rather than international cooperation to develop vaccines

They stem from the government’s ideological commitment to privatisation and outsourcing, from SERCO’s Test-and-Trace billions, Deloitte’s consultants and Lighthouse labs, bypassing Primary Care and local Public Health Teams, to crony contracts with friends and Conservative party donors.  This has contributed to over 109,000 deaths in the UK since the Pandemic began – the 5th highest figure in the  world.

But there’s more – much more – coming down the line. Continued privatisation is being rolled out, often by stealth, for example through the forced introduction of so-called ‘Integrated Care Systems’.  At this event we will be joined by experienced campaigners, who can help us plan how in Suffolk, we can organise to resist the NHS sell-off and fight to reclaim social care as a public service.”
