Zero Covid Campaign have called a national day of action on Saturday 5 December

AS ENGLISH LOCKDOWN ENDS: DAY OF ACTION ON 5 DEC FOR MORE EFFECTIVE MEASURES

Doctors, scientists, students and trade unionists are planning coordinated protests across Britain on Saturday 5 December to protest the UK government’s reckless return to regional tier measures and to demand a Zero Covid strategy. It will be many months before most UK citizens are vaccinated, and there is not yet evidence whether the vaccines prevent transmission as well as protecting against illness, so more effective measures are needed to reduce community infection near to zero. This would save lives and livelihoods, and avoid on-off lockdowns dragging on for months. Key figures from the British Medical Association and the Independent SAGE panel of expert scientists, workplace safety campaign Hazards, the President of the National Union of Students, the General Secretary of the train drivers’ union ASLEF and the food manufacturing Bakers’ Union and a raft of local trade union bodies backed the call.
